Daytrip on river Mersey from Burnage Rugby Club to Metrovicks Rugby Club, total distance 15.5km. It is a grade 1-2 river with one large sloping weir which can be shot at all but high level but can be portaged. There are several riffles made up of rubble and gravel and some rapids, one of which is about 50m long. Although it is in an urban area the Mersey travels through a green corridor and has a varied wildlife including salmon and kingfishers. Bring packed lunch/snacks and drinks. We will have a dinnerstop at Northenden weir as the only suitable stopping place.

Please email or bring your Camping & Caravanning membership number and BCU number for our trip record.
Suitability
Suitable for kayaks and canoes. Paddlers need to be 2 star (old style) ability and have moving water experience. It is a condition of the canoe trail that helmets must be worn. Use paddling gear suitable for the weather and bring spare dry clothing just in case.
