The Canoe-Camping Club

About our Club

What do we do?

We paddle. Placid lakes, canals, slow flowing rivers, whitewater and the sea - and that means going away from home because nobody has all that on their doorstep. So we camp as well, in tents, caravans and motorhomes. We also enjoy ourselves and get to see some of the nicest bits of England, Wales and Scotland, plus trips abroad.

Our events take place throughout the year. Highlights here

Where are we?

Everywhere there is water that you can paddle on! We are a National Club (founded in 1933). We have no headquarters or premises - instead , we have a network of regional groups which organise our programme of events, open to all members.

Who are our members?

Paddlers of all ages and all abilities, especially families. Children are particularly welcome, provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult. Many events are suitable for both kayaks and open canoes. Members own their own boats - we do not have a Club fleet.

Where are the regional groups?

They are focused in the following areas: Dee and North West, Northern, Herts and East Anglia, Midlands, Thames and South East, and West Country. Groups mainly organise events in their own area but may travel farther afield for a particular location or holiday event. All members are welcome to attend any group's events - you don't have to belong to just one group. Those of us still prepared to drive the length and breadth of Britain paddle with all the groups!

What else do we offer?

The Club has a lively quarterly magazine, also a library and archives (going back to the 1930s).
